I would run HP Ice here if he holds AV, or protect if you keep life orb. Switching isn't all that common in VGC, it only hurts you vs TR, and Vikavolt will still be slower than many pokemon after it activates. Vikavolt: I think electroweb is a wasted move slot. I'm running 4/5 of these in my current team, so I'll comment with what has/hasn't worked for me. Still, I think your team has a slight weakness to Talonflame (priority Tailwind, Flare Blitz on Vikavolt, who does not outspeed Adamant Talonflame under Tailwind without 212 speed EVs), so it might be worth it to keep Rock Slide, but you're more likely to run into Tapus than Talonflame.Įdit - Maybe put an Air Balloon on Kartana? Rock Slide isn't quite what it used to be, without Talonflame dominating the game. Lots of Garchomps are using Poison Jab for the super effective hits on Tapus. I'd put a Life Orb on him so you can OHKO Garchomps without Focus Sash, pick up key OHKO's with Earthquake, and have generally better game against other Intimidate pokemon. Rocky Helmet on Garchomp is old tech that isn't as good as it used to be without Mega Kangaskhan wrecking havoc.

That way, you can Tailwind for free on turn one and not have to worry about the Discharge. Kartana kind of wants a Focus Sash of its own, but Pelipper probably wants one more. Garchomp under Tailwind is your best out for Tapu Koko. It's very fast and it gets in on Tapu Koko, but most Tapu Koko's have Focus Sash and take neutral Steel damage anyways.

I think the Choice Scarf on Kartana might be superfluous. That way, you can either attack with Pelipper, sacrifical Tailwind, or switch into Vikavolt to mitigate Discharge. I think the Garchomp/Pelipper lead can be very good. Lastly a pokemon that resist rock or has a way to deal with rock sliders would be valued as 3 of my pokemon are weak to rock.Īll criticism is welcome and appreciated. A tapu of my own might be nice in order to cancel out other terrains, and Electric TeRAIN Tapu-Koko might fit in. I would like a taunt user to shut down trick room and Stall, but would also like to see something else that could benefit from the rain. I have tried multiple mons to fill this slot and cannot find a proper fit. Scald and Hurricane are staples on this set as Pelipper is in rain.
#Vikavolt electroweb Patch
Rain gives Vikavolt access to 100% accurate thunder and helps to patch up kartanas 4x weakness to fire. Pelipper provides me with additional speed control with Tailwind, a flying type immunity to garchomps earthquake, and most importantly weather to counter the very prominent Torkoal-Lilligant combo. Pelipper Sitrus Berry Ability: Drizzle Level: 50 EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA Bold Nature IVs: 0 Atk Will-O-Wisp is there to further cripple any physical attackers. The use of firium Z allows arcanine to get two uses out of burn up as well.

Intimidate and snarl offers support while Burn Up is an interesting move that has 130 base power and rids arcanine of its fire type, leaving it typeless. The main reason I decided to choose Arcanine was because I saw Celesteela was very common in the meta, hence the use of Firium Z on Arcanine. Leaf blade threatens gastrodon which otherwise cannot be handeled very well with the GarVolt core.Īrcanine Firium Z Ability: Intimidate Level: 50 EVs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 SpD Modest Nature IVs: 0 AtkĪrcanine resist fire which 2 of the 3 other pokemon are weak too. Choice scarf allows Kartana to outspeed Tapu Koko and pick up revenge kills. Kartana's typing complements Garchomp’s dragon typing and offers a way to counter the tapus in the form of smart strike. Kartana Choice Scarf Ability: Beast Boost Level: 50 EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Adamant Nature

Rough Skin+rocky helmet can also help to pick up some KO's that would not be possible otherwise. Dragon claw is for STAB while rockslide is useful coverage+flinch. Garchomp as aforementioned is able to freely earthquake with Vikavolt on the field.
#Vikavolt electroweb skin
Garchomp Rocky Helmet Ability: Rough Skin Level: 50 EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly Nature Lastly electroweb hits both opponents and offers a useful form of speed control. Bug buzz is STAB, and Thunder (under rain) is insanely powerful combined with Vikavolts base 145 special attack stat. Vikavolt Life Orb Ability: Levitate Level: 50 EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA Modest Nature IVs: 0 AtkĪlongside Garchomp, Vikavolt is able to use discharge freely and thanks to levitate is immune to Garchomp’s earthquake. Since Vikavolt is one of my favorite new pokemon (only second to Golisopod), I decided to have him as a main aspect of my team. I'm new to the format of VGC and wanted to gain insight as to how my team can be modified/improved.
